Hey guys! So, for my free blog I decided to search up, easy use of natural light in videos and the video down below showed up. He gives pretty basic tips, but it's easy to follow and helpful. We always use the natural light when shooting because there's so much of us and there's no reason to go buying studio lights. Most of the people that film tip videos spend so much time explaining these tips. I like his channel because it's easy to follow and it's quick. I recommend checking it out. Thanks for reading! Bye!

Hey guys! So, this week's blog topic is about our top three challenges so far. Now I'm sure everyone has challenges in the first week of school because you haven't been doing those things in media. So far, morning announcements have been hard, fundraising has been hard, and my first quarter project.
So, morning announcements is crazy. First of all, most of the time announcers are always late. So, we don't get their scripts till maybe 7:30 and that's not on time at all. Also, somebody new was doing the tiltler job and that's one of the hardest jobs in the morning announcements. So, we were going a little slow with titles and she wasn't to sure what to do. Also, friends are always coming into the rooms and distracting some people and then we waste time waiting for them to get out. Then Mr.Velasco's birthday landed on one of the days in our week, if you don't know who he is. He's a P.E teacher at our school that's going to retire. Anyways, I guess we decided to celebrate his birthday big. A few people were decorating behind the announcers for the longest time. They came in at 7:30 I think and stopped when we were going live which was about 7:53. They kept distracting the announcers and it was hard to cross fade with them in the cameras. I know they had good intentions, but I don't think they should've took that long. Another thing was that we had the first advisory game. Those things are so stressful because there's so much to them. Even though we did pretty good for the first game, it was so scary and stressful for us. We spent basically the whole time practicing it and we never practiced their regular script. As you can see we had a hard week, I think we went 1 day without having 1 mistake, but it was just the first week. I'm sure we will improve. Next was fundraising. Now I haven't done fundraising in a few months and I now remember haw challenging it is. It's scary when you have to talk to people you don't talk to a lot. I had to suck it up though because I needed to get it done. After a few people I was like, "I got this". I'm doing pretty good though, I haven't got rejected yet, but there's still more to go. Lastly, there's the 1st quarter Hiki no project. We basically started from scratch. We changed the whole focus on our story which meant we had to redo interviews and get more. Then we had to redo the 5 points and script. We changed the whole thing and it took a lot of work, but we got it done. Last week was probably the most stressful week ever because we had to finish it on Friday and we started on Tuesday. Overall, media has been pretty challenging this first month, but I got through it and that's important. Now, I have the rest of the year to get through, hopefully it goes through fast. Thanks for reading! Bye! Hey guys! So, for this week's free blog, I would like to talk about this video I found on YouTube. It's called, "Top 5 Tips to Shoot Incredible Video with a Smartphone!". Now this video in my opinion is the clear video to understand, but he does give good info in this video. If you wanting to start a YouTube channel or something like that watch this video. He gives good information on how you can use you smartphone to film video that's close to being just as good as a camera. Now I know what you are thinking, "Oh, so all I need is my smartphone". Well, that's what I thought too, but he did say you need a tripod and tripod mount. You don't necessarily need to get the best tripod and mount, but it's your decision. Anyways, his info and tips are still very good. It could help you when trying to start a filming channel of some sort. :) Hey guys! So, this week's blog topic is about our summer camp project. We are doing ok, I'd say. Now, to be completely honest that camp was the most stressful thing ever, I almost cried. My partner was Mia Thompson. Our topic was about a teacher that created this creative arts program at her school. Now, since it was a school program, it was hard to get b-roll. Also, we need to shoot interviews again to build more of a story. Lastly, after we do all that, we still need to edit it.
So, first of all our b-roll was a big problem. Since it was a school program. It was hard for us to get good b-roll that matched the story. We managed to only get b-roll of her and her 2 kids. It really didn't match though. So, next week I want film some more b-roll at their practices. Next, was that we need to get more interviews. Hiki no gave us back really good advice that boosted our minds. I believe we have a good story, but we just didn't ask the right questions. So, I want to plan a day next week where we can shoot a new interview. Lastly, there's the editing. Editing was the most stressful part because it's the part when you see your final project and all the filming you did. Since our project is due in about 2 weeks, I think. I want to spend one week filming then the other editing. Overall, I'd say we are doing ok because at least we know what we need to do and our topic is really flexible and patient with us. We know what we need to do, so I'm pretty sure we will do good. Thank you reading! Bye! Hey guys! So, I'm back with a free blog. I'm going to do it on this new movie trailer I saw that Disney is supposedly coming out with. It's called Moana, now I'm not sure if Moana is going to become a new princess or something. From what I understand it's about this girl named Moana, and Maui. It's cool there're making a video related to Hawaii. I think it has something to do with the legend of Maui. When you watch this you can tell it's a new movie trailer, but it says it's coming out this Thanksgiving. It's an animated movie like every other disney princess movie so I think she actually might become a new princess. I actually kind of really like animated movies, I just think they're really cool because they have to create the characters in the movie. The finish product is really cool and amazing. I looked up animated movies, and it said it takes about 40-60 people to animate the characters which is amazing. I wouldn't have thought it would take that much people. Anyways check it out down below. :) Hey guys! I’m back to doing 2 blogs a week. I’m kind of excited into getting back into things and kind of not, I still think summer was a bit summer was better. How about you guys? Anyways, this week’s blog topic was what was our 3 goals for this new school year? Well, since I’m returning one of my goals is to be a good mentor. Also, since there are lots of new students I want to make it a goal to really get to know them, and finally I want to get good grades and meet deadlines.
So, since I’m returning I got a partner who I’m supposed to mentor. My new partner is Jasmine Ruiz and she is a 7th grader like me, but she is new to the class. She’s very coolbeans to work with, so I hope I can teach her a lot from what my former partner Alaysia taught me. I'm also confident we will work well together. My next goal is to get to know all the new classmates better, they all seem very cool and I can see that the whole class is already getting along very well. I hope to create the same bond I created with the old guys, but with them. Hopefully the Kokee camp will help us do that and also being in a class together every 6th period as well. My last goal is to get good grades and turn in everything on time. Now this is important to me because I'm that kind of person thats care's about their grades and what they are. I plan to to do that by making sure I get things done on time. I'm going to try and plan everything ahead of time so it can be the best it can be. In conclusion, I want to make it an effort to be a good mentor, get to know all my new classmates better and also to get good grades and turn things in on time. I hope this year will be just as great as last year and I'll make more memories with the sy2016-2017 media group. Thanks for reading! :) |
