Hey guys! So today was day 6 of STN! It was also Crazy 8’s day! I am part of the film team, so we make a short film under 8 min in 8 hours. Our topic was Tomorrow The World. It took a while for us to figure out an idea though. So we were in a time crunch to film, but we made it in time and turned it in! We all know we could’ve improved more, but what can we do? It was getting really intense when we got closer and closer to the deadline, for both teams. After we finished with the whole thing, we headed to our rooms for relax for a little. Then we ate dinner at the tiny food court they have in the hotel. Then we headed to opening ceremonies. That was pretty much today, stay tuned for tomorrow's blog!
Hey guys! So today was day 5 of STN! We woke up pretty early you could say, and headed to McDonalds. We had breakfast there and headed to the Angels Stadium to get a tour. The tour was pretty fun. We got to go in the quarter million season pass lounges and also walk on the field! After we had the tour, we got in the bus and took a long drive back to Burbank, California. I got to take a nap which was good. 👍 (I can add emojis now because I'm typing this on my phone) Once we got there, we got to to tour the Disney Animation studio! It was so cool! We also got to see the voice of Olaf! He was in a rush or something, so sadly we didn't get to technically really meet him, but it was still cool. Then we drove back to Anaheim and met up with our Castaic pen pals! It was so cool to finally meet them and talk. We then ate dinner at Bubba Gumps and walked back to the hotel. Well that was pretty much how today went, stay tuned for tomorrow's!
Hey guys! So today was day 4 of our STN trip! Today we woke up a little later and ate breakfast at this returnable called Big Boys, I think. I got the breakfast burrito and it was so big. I could hardly finish half, so Mia M. and Shayne ate the other half. (I cut it in half for them) Then we walked along the Hollywood fame stars and shopped a little. After that we took a long bus ride to Anaheim. I got to sleep for a little bit, so that was good. After we got off the bus, we checked in and came into our room and relaxed, before we headed to downtown Disney. We ate and shopped some more there. Well, that was pretty much the day, stay tuned for tomorrow's!
Hey guys! So today we woke up early, ate breakfast, and walked to Universal Studios. It was my first time, so I didn't really know what there was or what rides there were. To be honest, I like Disneyland better, the rides we more 3D stimulation rides then roller coasters, which I didn't really like. I'm more of a roller coaster ride type of person. It was still fun though we rode quite a bit of rides until we had to head over to our VIP tour. The tour was pretty cool though! We got to see some of the sets like the other Warner Brothers tour. We also got to do some 3D stimulation rides again, but these were more exciting! We then rode one more ride, and ate dinner and shopped at the Universal City Walk. That's it for today, stay tuned for tomorrow's!
Hey guys! So, in today's blog, I will be talking about my Day 2 here in California. Yesterday was obviously Day1, but all we really did was travel on an airplane and eat dinner at In-N-Out. Which was very delicious! Anyways, our first stop was the Warner Bros Studios tour. It was so awesome, even though I didn't watch or know half the movies he was talking about. Our tour guide's name was Noah and he was pretty entertaining. While on the tour, we saw the outside of the studios for the Big Bang Theory, Fuller House, and more I didn't watch or know! We also saw a lot of fake buildings that they used in different movies, which was really cool! After that, we ate lunch and headed over to UCLA. The ride really felt never-ending at the end because we were in that bus for a while. Anyways, at the college we learned a few different things and also watched some films they made. Like, how much it costs, what are some majors, but we focused more on film and theater though. Then we headed over to the Lakers game which was really fun and cool beans! We were sitting really high, which was scary for me, but it was super cool at the same time. The Lakers also ended up winning after the overtime was over! Well, thats pretty much an overview of today, stay tuned for tomorrow's!
Hey guys! We are just days away form our STN trip to Anaheim. So, this week's blog topic is what 3 things we are excited for the most. I'm really excited to meet my pen pal, compete and watch closing ceremonies, and also going to all the different attractions.
First of all, I'm really excited to meet my pen pal. Every year, we get assigned a pen pal from Castaic Middle School in California. It is a really fun experience because we get to me and talk to somebody very far from us, and at convention we have a group to hang out with too! My pen pal is Megan, and we have a few things in common you could say. (weird pause) I also can't wait to meet the other Castaic pen pals as well!
I'm also excited to actually compete in the real thing. We have been practicing a lot and I just really want to do it already. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's just a feeling where you're nervous for it to happen, but you can't wait. If you didn't know, I'm on the music video team with Amber and Shayne. I'd say we work pretty well together, but I'm not going to lie, it's been hard sometimes. Anyways, we have improved almost every practice and I just really want to do the real one. I'm also excited for the closing ceremonies because it's just so fun. Everybody's just so pumped you could say. Not sure if that's the word, but it's the first thing that popped into my head.
Lastly, I'm very excited for the attractions in California. I'm really excited for Universal Studios and Disneyland. I've never been to Universal Studios, so I'm especially excited for that one. I'm also just so excited because I get to go with all my classmates. Last year, we went to six flags and it was so awesome! I'm also exited to walk where the hollywood stars are. I've always wanted to it and now I am!
As you can see I am one excited child. Meeting my pen pal, competing, and going to some attractions kind of sums up the whole trip. So, you could say that I'm excited for the whole thing basically! Well, thanks for reading! And also stay tuned for STN blogs coming up!
Hey guys! So this week's week blog topic is about how we think our teams did. For our regular STN teams I'm making a music video. We have 3 hours to film and 3 hours to edit. For crazy eights, I am on the film team. This is where we have 8 hours to film and edit a whole short film.
The last practice we had for my music video team was probably the best we ever did. We were having problems in the last practices, with finding a good story of some sort. We already tried lip syncing and that was a big no. We also tried switching jobs, that didn't work either. So, what I'm trying to say, is that now we have already figured out our plan to create the real one.
For my crazy eights film team, I feel we did pretty good actually. There's not really much to say about our growth because we only had one practice, but we did work together with finding a good story. The only thing I think we could work on is talking to each more during the filming process. After we got outside, we kind of started doing our own thing which did not really work out in the end when it was editing time. We were having a hard time putting the story together when editing. I think we would do better at the real thing because there's not too many things to do, expect to help your team. Overall, I feel we work pretty well together though.
Finally, Iet us talk about my role in each of the teams. I'm the returnee in my music video team. So, I'm basically the leader. I feel I contribute by filming and editing the video. For my crazy eights film team I felt a little left out actually because I wasn't really filing, but I get why. Kolten's the one that did most of it, but he's the leader/director. How I contribute is finding music that goes with the title and editing some of it.
In conclusion, I feel that our STN teams are ready. Our practices helped my music video probably more than I ever thought. We did have a rough few practices, but we all worked it out. STN is in less than 2 weeks and I'm more than excited! Thanks for reading!
Hey guys! So this week's blog topic is about which team we would like to be one on for our Kauai Grown 4th quarter project. Kauai Grown is a bunch a local farmers who sell their crops here on Kauai. You could say it's kind of like a organization. Anyways, we are taking on this project as a class. Which means we all will have different jobs. There's social media teams, photographers, and personal profile teams. At first I wanted to be on Instagram, but there was too many people for Instagram. So my next choice was personal profile. Here's three reasons why.
I feel I should be on the personal profile team because I feel I do pretty good job doing them. My last one I was pretty proud of. Mia T. and I's first cut was not the best, but once we made the changes we were really proud of it. I also feel they are much easier than doing a full story because you really only have to interview them.
Another reason I feel I should be on the personal profile team is because I'm not the best at taking pictures you could say. Others are probably a bit better than me. Also, I don't really have a creative-enough mind to take nice pictures. Ideas on how to take them is pretty difficult to me for some reason.
Lastly I feel I should be on the personal profile team because I don't really know how to use most social media apps. I know the basics, but not really all the different things you can do on it. I know the basics for Instagram and Snapchat, but barely all the different features it provides. I especially don't know how to use Facebook and Twitter.
In conclusion, I feel that I should be on the personal profile team for the Kauai Grown project. I feel that I'm pretty good at making them and also I'm not the best with social media and taking cool pictures. Thanks for reading!
Hey guys! So, this week blog topic is if we are satisfied with our PSA or not. If you didn't know, for 3rd quarter we make a PSA (public service announcement) by ourselves. Mine was on energy conservation. I am actually pretty satisfied with the finished project that I created, but there is one thing about it I wished I did differently. Here's three reasons why I feel I'm satisfied with my PSA. (Also if you want to see what I'm talking about, go check out my 3rd quarter project page, here on my site. Then come back and read the rest.)
First of all, I feel satisfied with the finished product because I feel it really got my message across with my story. I had a little bit of trouble really creating a good story and script, but when I talked to Mr.M I finally got it! It was a little bit of trouble trying to fit three scenes into the 30 seconds time limit I had, but I got the script done and had it approved. My final message turned out to be "We all can save energy, one switch at a time."
Secondly, I really liked how the ending turned out. The ending was where you really get the message, and put it all together. When I got it checked with Mr.M, he told me to change it a little, which I totally agreed with. It made more sense, and looked and sounded more smooth, to really improve it another step further.
Lastly, the only thing about my PSA that I wished I filmed differently, was the second shot. If you watched the video, you can see that it looks pretty dark. That's because I have this huge sliding door in my room that accesses the lanai or porch. I wasn't smart and filmed in front of it, with all the natural light coming in. So, it therefore made it dark and weird looking. That's really the only thing I knew could've done differently to make it look nicer.
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my project. I had a pretty rough start, but it all came through in the end. The story made sense and the message as well. Which ends in a pretty good PSA in my opinion. Thanks for reading!
Hey guys! So this week's blog topic is because of President's day. The question is what three traits do we think a president should have. I don't really want to make any comments regarding Trump in this blog because I'm still a kid that doesn't really know much, but I do see the obvious things that's everybody's concerned about. Anyways, here's the three traits I feel a President should have.
First of all, I feel a President should have intelligence in their brains at all times. They're the ones that make the most important decisions. So, therefore they need the intelligence to make the right ones for our country.
Secondly, I think they need common sense, something that I feel Donald Trump doesn't have. I feel this is one of those obvious things about Trump. For example, how is building a wall common sense. It will just waste money, effort, and time. It will also just create more drama in America between people.
Lastly, I feel a President should be honest. Being a liar gets you no where. Lying will only make America not trust you and question why you're a President. Not being honest will probably create many problems because people won't know what to believe at times. Which is not good at all.
Overall, I feel that a President should have intelligence, common sense, and honesty. I feel they're all important to have, when you're literally the leader of millions of people. Sorry this is kind of a short blog, but I don't really have much to say about topics like these. Anyways thanks for reading.
